At Children’s Rights Australia, we understand that natural disasters can strike at any moment, leaving devastation in their wake. Our mission is to be prepared and responsive, ensuring that affected families receive the immediate relief and long-term support they need to recover and rebuild.

Our Approach to Disaster Relief

During recent Queensland flood crises both previously in regional areas, thousands of phone calls from Queensland residents were received with offers of accommodation and other items for displaced residents. Despite these offers being received by hundreds of volunteers taking phone calls, very few actual placements were implemented. The main reason being manual coordination and the human component.
We wish to provide an online service for the Qld Govt Crisis Centers, similar to Airbnb but also having it avail to co-ordinate automated responses from the community, as well as portals for ways we can connect with other Non-Profits especially for clothes, food bank, and other recourses for knowing where to drop off parcels for co-ordinated logistics also.  

We also want to provide

- Emergency clothes (compressed into 50kg bundles) ready for transport.
- Having our own team of Volunteers who already know how to use certain systems ready to train other volunteers.

Long-Term Impact

Our commitment goes beyond immediate relief. We work with communities to strengthen their resilience against future disasters through:

• Education and Preparedness Workshops: Teaching skills and strategies to mitigate the effects of potential disasters.

Right now, we need to buy $18,000 clothes compacting machine, so we have readily available clothes ready to ship. We are also exploring options of exporting clothes and assisting other Non-Profits stores with providing them opportunities to better ways then throwing clothes so we can reduce landfill.
