About Us
Who We Are - Children’s Rights Australia (CRA) is a dedicated not-for-profit charity, recognized for its commitment to improving the lives of children and their families in Queensland. With our DGR status, we focus on addressing the challenges faced by children and often their carers in abusive and impoverished conditions. Our ultimate goal is to foster family unit cohesion, eliminating abuse, disrespect, and destruction in the lives of our young ones.
Our Mission - At CRA, our mission is twofold. First, we aim to alleviate the ignorance surrounding available support by enhancing awareness and connecting those in need with valuable resources. This involves a robust network of sponsors, volunteers, and specialist organizations dedicated to supporting vulnerable children. We operate primarily in the South-east and South-western regions of Queensland, with plans to expand our reach throughout regional areas.
Current Initiatives - Our operational base features an OP shop located at Mt Gravatt, complete with an adjoining, yet unutilized, consulting area. Here, we harness the skills of a diverse group of volunteers from industries such as legal, psychology, education, construction, and more. The key challenge we face is effectively coordinating the connectivity between volunteers and clients, which is not only labour-intensive but also delicate due to privacy concerns.
To overcome these challenges, we need to build platforms that better enhance on what is already avail with productive support and knowledge of the community. This platform will facilitate direct, confidential interactions between clients and volunteers, enhancing our service efficiency and reach.
Project Overview (As of 10 March 2024) Our current project focuses on several strategic objectives:
- Engaging business advisors to develop actionable business and project plans.
- Establishing a digital booking platform to streamline the connection between clients and volunteers.
- Conducting market research to identify the most effective digital platforms and integrated client relationship management (CRM) systems.
- Enhancing volunteer recruitment, retention, and recognition.
- Increasing our marketing efforts to amplify our reach and impact, supported in part by the Queensland Community Foundation (QCF).
This initiative is set to commence within three months of securing QCF funding and is projected to be fully implemented over a 12-month period, benefiting from both financial contributions and volunteer support.
Recent Additions (As of 10 April 2024) In our latest effort to support the community and simultaneously boost local businesses, we introduced a Hairdressing shop adjacent to our OP shop. This new venture offers local hairdressers a platform to showcase their skills and attract new clients, providing them with a modest income to cover basic expenses. Dubbed "our helping hands," this initiative not only helps struggling professional's post-pandemic but also increases foot traffic and support for our community-focused programs.
